You could say I owe my newfound “lifestyle” to Netflix. After my husband found a documentary about eating meat on Netflix, it made me do some serious thinking and research. I felt like this documentary was onto something. I wanted to know more. So many people in my family and that I know have so many things wrong with them health wise, and I want to avoid that as much as possible. I want my family to be healthy as well. I have 2 young girls, and as their mother it is my job to make sure I teach them healthy habits early on.
One of the sites I found that I really liked was https://www.forksoverknives.com/7-things-that-happen-when-you-stop-eating-meat/
They point out so many benefits to not eating meat, and focusing on a plant based diet. It has been about a month since we have cut WAY back on meat. In that month I have lost about 18 lbs, and I just feel better. I have more energy, and feel less “bloated”.
We use the term “vegetarian” lightly. On my birthday I did eat a steak, but my husband is also a cattle rancher, so I have to support the ranchers right?! We just made significant changes to our diet. We used to eat meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Now we eat it MAYBE one time a week. Many of the vegetarian recipes and blogs I read include dairy and eggs, but we don’t even really eat that.
This transition has been an experience, and I wanted to share it. Health awareness is becoming more prominent, and I wanted to share this in case others out there were considering changing their lifestyles. DO IT! You wont regret it!
